Update on Crystal

Hi there

I called the vet this morning about Crystal's symptoms as I explained yesterday and he said he thinks she may have had a relapse.

I've got yet more antibiotics and I took a sample in today to SARC testing, does anyone know what they test for? It cost me £58 (about $120) for more antibiotics and the tests.

He thinks this time it will kick it but I just don't know now!! I hope he finds something in the tests so we know for sure whats going on!!!

Poor thing is getting fed up with it as much as I am!!

I'm not sure what SARC testing is--but I'll bet if you call your vet's office, a tech would be able to explain exactly what they're testing for.

How is Crystal doing today? Any improvement on the antibiotics? Did the vet prescribe the same or a different antibiotic this time?

This is the only thing I could find on SARC in relation to fecal testing:

Quote:
Serotype Typhi is the only serotype within Salmonella reference collection C (SARC), a strain collection consisting of 16 isolates representing all phylogenetic lineages within the genus Salmonella, which hybridizes with a DNA probe specific to the tcf operon
If this is the test your vet is running, it is a test for salmonella, isolating the pure strains from mixed bacterial strains.

Thanks for looking that up for me i couldn't find anything about it! Shes doing fine, as expected, practically the second she as an antibiotic it goes as if its never been there, it when she comes off the antibiotics it comes back instantly - weird

He has given her the same antibiotics, same dose but more frequent.
Hopefully this time it doesn't come back!
