goats

I have posted pics and stories about our pets on a tread in the section " introduce yourself" so some of you may have already seen these but here are a few of our pet goat family. Our goats are affectionate, loyal, tender, bullheaded, ornery and crabby. They are wonderful contradictions and that makes them such interesting pets. They are very smart but what was the biggest surprise to us was how very loving thier personalities are.

Frenchy...they do smile...and show their teeth...lick their lips and stick out their tonges....Thet snort and can whine really well. The whining usually always gets them a snack so they do that alot. Got us trained real well!
Preceeding post showed Lilly, Bob and Pansey. Here is Rose and Sylvia....more on next post

I was looking at those horns and thinking the same thing!

They sure are cuties, FancyAppy. I've always loved goats! They're such characters. If I ever own a farm, I think goats are definitely going to come to live with me.

Very cute goats, but I want to rename Bob Gabby I still think he looks just like my neighbour's goat . I'll have to try to get a picture of him to show you.

Wow - the eyes on Rose! Sure gets your attention! Goat eyes are always cool anyway. They are tons of fun. I wish I had a few - organic lawn mowers.

Do you milk them? You could be making goat milk soap.

CearaQC, happycats.Frenchy...Rose is our tinest goat she is about 14 in tall at her shoulder...and just as wide. She has a high pitched whine-baa and flies like a bird. She will jump with flying goat leaps from structure to rock to igloo to play-deck etc so her feet won't touch the ground. Any thing to prevent her feet from getting dirty..she looks like a flying carpet with a big bulge in the middle. She is very spoiled and has to have her own food dish, won't share a dish with the other goats and it has to be set up on something ..of course she won't eat out of her pan if it sits on the ground...goats are very fussy! lol
She does have very bright eyes...it is that wicked glint in her eye!!!!!! lol

pbpatti hazelrunpack..big horns yes but they do not butt us ..just each other..they really see us as mommy and daddy and rub against us, snuggle in laps, nap at our feet, lay their heads in our laps etc. They don't act agressive towards us in any way...but they are very jealouse and will smack each other out of the way , knock each other over to get treats and petting from me. If I am petting one another will sulk or butt the one being petted. They follow us around and where ever we are ..they are...very sweet. but they butt the heck out of trees, trash cans, rocks...and each other.

onester, ancient, gail, loopoo kimandautumn...gail would love to see gabby
Thank you, we really love these guys. And they smile alot . always smiling shaking their heads and stamping feet to accentuate their baas. They have long complicated conversations with each other then look at me to get my opinion...'Well what do you think mom, am I right about this?'...I just walk away don't want to get in the middle of their goat politics...

Big horns? Nah ... wish I had pics of my "Pigeon"! HE had horns!! And used them on hubby's big butt too

You have mini goats right? They're cute. I had 13 Alpines, all knew their names. Goats are smart.

If I called Reglisse, only she would lift her head, or Cafe-Creme, what a darling she was sticking her nose into my pockets to get the pieces of apple she knew I had in there Mimi was nuts, I think she had a neuron loose! Her mom, Chaussette, always got mamary infections when she had kids; every single time Victor got dangerous, we had to put him down; he'd attack any of us for no reason, we couldn't get near him in the end. Caramelle, Gazelle, Canelle were all sweet little females, Canelle was the only one I milked actually, because her baby died and I couldn't just leave her like that!

I miss my goats

Sarah..Do you have any pics of your goats?..Alpines are beautiful. I know you miss them.
Any chance you may have some again in the future?...oh yes these little goats horns would not be nearly as impressive and scary as your Alpines.Alpines are big beautuful goats.
What beautiful names you gave your goats....and I am sorry about Victor.
Our Pygmies are classified as meat goats, not milkers, but they, like most pygmies are just pets....should not say "just" because they are very precious to us.
Ours all know their names also but come running to a single call..."Baaabeeeee Goooooates!!!!!!!!" they all come running cause that means SNACKS!!!!!!!
Here are our biggest horns..on Bob and Nugget .These are also the oldest goats.
and baby horns on Pansey
Thanks for sharing about your goats. Would love to hear more.

Rainbow.the 3 older ones, Bob, Nugget and Lily Always want in the house.
They love to come in.They are the house bandits. We call them the goat gangsters. They break into the house, eat newspapers and magazines. Raid the pantry..Then they will sleep on the couch and wait for us to come home.....
They can't get in any more but I must say I kinda miss them surprising me with big grins when I came home as if saying "hi Mom..how was your day? ours was FUN!"

your goats are adorable!!!!!! I love goats! My neighbor has 2 - they have a REALLY nice area with a rock pile they play on. I love their rectangle pupils! Do all goats have rectangle pupils? something I've always wondered...

jessi76...their eyes remind me of cat eyes..very oblong sorta triangular pupils.Speaking of your neighbors goats and the rocks.
Here is my dear Bob and Nuggett fighting over a pile of rocks. Last summer they fought over this same pile of rocks EVERYDAY.
For hours....smacking each other in the head, tumbling each other off the top, sticking toungs out at each other and snorting.
Bob always won by sheer ability to shove Nugget off the rocks because he weighs 25 pounds more.
He would then stand on the top and gleefully baaaaah his superiority to all the farm....
but only a few moments after he would proudly climb down and strut away, Nugget would sneak back up over the rocks ,
scamper to the top and...grin!

Lukka...Sylvia is a little tough girl. she swaggers when she walks. she needs to be a member of the Goat Gangsters. She is the only hornless got we have. That does not put her at a dissadvantage though, she is brawny, baaaad..and every other goat gives her respect.
She is our tiny little showgoat. She goes to shows and struts her stuff. It is so cute to see and we get all puffed up cause we are so proud of her.
With us she is super sweet, loves doritos, absolutley loves back rubs. She will close her eyes and sigh. I just adore her. She is a registered pygmy .
I think her color and booties are pretty. She is quite a girly girl goat even though she put on that tuff girl act.
