glaucoma or cataracts?

Hi
my dog has recently developed blindness in both eyes. His eyes are blue and blurry and I don't know if he has Cataracts or Glaucoma.
Can anyone help me?

The dog needs to be assessed by a vet. No one should attempt self medication with eye disorders. You can do more harm than good.

I know that im taking him tomorrow but I want to know if we can still save his vision or not. He has been blind for a week and his eyes are blue and blurry, and those are symptoms of both cataracts and glaucoma.

I'm sorry but he's been like that for a week and you are only going to the vet tomorrow? At the first signs of any eye trouble it's the vet immediately because caught early, many eye problems can be corrected. We had a Saint come in that would walk into walls, she now has complete vision in one eye and blurred vision in the other. It cost $1000 to fix this... why? Because they left it so long that we had to treat her for four months and operate twice. I'm not trying to sound harsh but hoping at a later date that someone searches on this and acts immediately instead of waiting.

How old is this dog btw? You don't give very much information.

It's also a sign of ulceration.

the thing is we already took him to the vet and they old us we had to take him to an eye specialist because they could not determine the cause. Tomorrow they will tell us when the date of the appointment. He's 8 years old.

You're located where? Most vets have enough knowledge to give you a good starting point as to what may be the cause. Having you wait a week to get an appointment with an opthomologist delays options unless they feel there will be limited options. Did the vet take photos of the dogs eyes? Oddly, photographs tend to show in more detail what is going on than can be seen by the naked eye. They can also be sent to the opthomologist so that it can be determined if this is an emergency. I would suggest if you are not getting anywhere quickly then you look for another avenue to consult a specialist.

Where do you live? When this happened our to cat (Toronto), we were sent directly from our vet to the eye specialist - the appointment was made for same day?

In Miami. My mom took him to the eye specialist today and he told her that there was a possibility that his blindness was not glaucoma and that by eye drops he could get cured due to the fact that his blindness occurred only a week ago. But he also said there was the other possibility that he could have glaucoma and that if he did, nothing could be done to save him. They would have to give him fake eyes to eliminate the pain but he would still be blind forever...

FYI, they don't remove eyeballs and put in fake eyeballs for cataracts....
