Dog won't use back leg

Hi
I posted here in January regarding a tumor that my dog had on one of his legs that was, thankfully removed and benign. Today I woke up and my dog, Toby, refused to put weight on one of his hind legs. I felt the area and I feel what feels like a similar lump near the joint of that leg. I don't believe there is a problem with the sole of his foot because he is willing to put the foot down, just not bend it. I am very concerned that he may have some sort of a problem at the joint. I am awaiting a return call from the vet as we speak, but am sitting around petrified. I am VERY concerned about this and am worried that he may have some sort of a problem. Have any of you dealt with this or anything like it ? Any imput would really be appreciated, I'm at wit's end.

Thanks
Russell

It seems once a dog has a tumour, the chance of recurrance is high. Was the tumour malignant? Please let us know what your vet says!

No, it wasn't. Since I first posted about this the dog has begun to walk fine.. and is running and jumping as usual. He occassionally favors the leg for a few steps or immediatly after he gets up, but for the most part he seems to have gotten much better. I have looked a little more closely at the tumor and it is definitely removed from the muscle of the leg. My vet says this is generally a sign that it's not remarkably serious..so we shall see.
I am a little confused that it was pretty pronounced at first and then, in the span of an hour, faded into pretty normal. The doctor feels - from the description - that he strained or pulled something and wants us to wait a day to see how it looks. He sleeps at the end of my mom's couch and she says she kicked him by accident last night, so perhaps that is at fault. I have a vet's appointment tomorrow afternoon..so we'll see. But I'm at least happy that he's walking, running and jumping normally now.
