Ferrets and sand

Does anyone know if it's ok to use sandbox sand in a ferrets cage as litter. Pretty much the whole lower level of my ferret's cage is a litterbox, and newspapers don't work too well, and I can't find any ferrety litter (pellets, etc) and I'm not really excited about using cat litter. I would like to use sand, even as just a play box thing, maybe, but I would like to know if it's OK to keep in the cage...

You are welcome. I don't know much about ferrets except to know that my kitties would think they were big mice. Good Luck!!

Y'know, you might be right about that. I have been around a few nasty ferrets. Probably weren't trained properly. And I know they do have very sharp little teeth and will defend themselves well. Let's not test out the theory, ok?

LOL, ok! My ferret is the sweetest thing, but don't let him get near cats or birds!

I noticed in your profile you have a lovebird. I had a black masked one for 12 years and when he passed I got a pair of peachfaced. My single one was very lovable. Lifted his wings to get scratched and snuggled a lot. I miss him. The 2 I have now are more into each other than people.
