Smile Please help me identify my dog's breed

Hello !

I would like to know what kind of dog we have...We bought it at a petshop and they told us he was an american eskimo x cocker spaniel
I surfed the internet and noted that american eskies come only in white and as for the cocker, I don't see anything of the breed in my dog. The only dog that I found that looks like ours is the swedish lapphund. It corresponds to the size, general look and the coat is the same One weird thing: he doesn't have a tail! The breeder must have cut it:sad: here are some pics:
Does someone have an idea?

Thanx in advance!
Manon

It's a schipperke! A Belgian breed, used as guard dogs on the canal boats. Intelligent and fun little dogs. They are born without a tail.

Great pics!

LOL, the rescue where we got Dani called her a Golden mix. She only has the golden color, nothing else. Not the look, not the personality, nothing. During a walk in a park, someone said "oh wow, you have a Duck Toller, they are so rare!" So we googled and found that she has almost every trait of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (a mouthful of a name!) except the white areas. So yes, she's a mix. But what is the other breed? Judging from her independence and lack of wet-dog-smell when she's out in the rain, I would guess some kind of spitz.

The reason I recognized your dog, is that although it is a rare-ish breed, there are still quite a few of them in Belgium and France especially, and I lived in France for close to 16 years I also bought 2 dog magazines regularly each week, some times a third one if there was an interesting-looking breed on the cover.

Dog-crazy? Me????

And cat-crazy (I can stand in front of the petstore window and laugh at those little fur-balls for the longest time, even go out of my way to go see them).

And bird-crazy - but I'm not allowed one Lewis doesn't want one because it will have to be kept in a cage (with two retievers and a cat? YES)

And ... well, generally animal mad

Because they don't know what they're talking about , they don't care about animals , they take dogs from BYB and puppy mills and just care about $$$

I'd say schipperke too - there's one in my neighbourhood - but this one is a very aggressive dog...

Is there no law against false breed advertising?
Anyway our dog is very friendly, Ihave four kids, 20, 15, 13 and 6 and the dog is very patient and friendly. Only the cats hate him...lol

No, but there is a law about selling a dog as a pure bred without registration papers. I don't know how well it's enforced, but it's enforced by the RCMP so it's a federal law.

Exactly what your little one is

Some are born with & some without tails
