Unhappy Cauliflower growth on mouth

My dog has a growth that can best be described as a head of cauliflower. It's growing right on the side of her mouth - on the outer lip area.
It has not affected her at all, she's still eating and it doesn't seem to cause her any pain if we touch it. It's incredibly gross looking and does seem to be growing as her upper lip does not actually cover it.

We have taken her to our vet and he said it's kind of like a wart and it should go away on its own. However, if it's not gone then he'll put her under and remove it.

Anyone had this experience?

Yes. If my memory serves me correctly (and at this time of night, that's probably asking too much), they're called histiocytomas. (Does that sound right? )

About a quarter of our dogs have had them at one time or another. Ember had one removed earlier this year--it likely would have gone away on its own, but it was on his eyelid and bothering him because of its location. They can grow pretty quickly at first, but then usually resolve by themselves in a few months. If she starts scratching at it or it bleeds, though, she may need to have it removed.
