Bendyfoot

i thought about you on and off all day yesterday and a fair bit of today. yesterday Jeffrey wiggled and smeared poo all over my MY side of the bed. he poked Mister in the butt with his finger... today he climbed into the door way to the house to come inside and as he crossed the threshold..... he puked all over the place. did that stop him?? not a single heart beat. walked right through it! today he said FOO (as in food) so emphatically that he spit FOO all over my face. *sigh* are you sure you want to do the baby thing?

all of the rest of you with new babies.... remember- this is right around the corner for you.

i probably could have done without the poo smearing part.... did i tell you i torched the dryer??? everythign has to be line dried and we are so humid its gotta be FULL sun.

the FOO! has me smiling all day though. he is a very.... robust.... eater. first he would say 'more' then it was 'p-p-p-wwweee' (please with the lips flapping on the P) then it was 'more please' then it 'brrrfooooss' (breakfast) and now its 'FOO!'

i need to get the FOO! on video.

lol want4rain!

I figure with all the puppy housetraining accidents, double-dog-diarrhea-on-the-carpets-for-a-week episodes, those lovely half-hidden-until-you-step-on-them-with-bare-feet cat pukes full of mouse remnants, and being woken up at ungodly hours by a fussy crate-trainng puppy, I've been well trained for all the nasty kid stuff
I can't wait! (but I have to, to see a specialist). I'm obsessed, actually

i have all of Cailyns young pictures on FILM but all of Jeffreys are digital.

some words of advice for new parents:

babies/toddlers/children are there for your amusement. it doesnt harm them one bit!!-

caffeine is bad... this was taken WITHOUT caffine-

great age to predict career, Jeffrey is going to be the CEO of a big company??-

ducks dont taste good-

he just found his weenie.... and pulled.

maestro doesnt need a pincer move-

stoogie face, made that for at least a month or so.

ive been looking everywhere for this picture!!!

ok now that we got the baby fix out of the way. you mind me asking abotu the specialist?

OMG he is gorgeous!! What a cutie pie!!

As for babies, yes they are MUCH MORE work then pets. On the other hand you never really know "true, unconditional" Love until you've had a baby, your heart just beams at the mere thought of them, and there is nothing you wouldn't do for them.
I guess it's probably the same as a dogs love for it's owner, so true and pure.
So prepare to turn into a dog, when you have a baby, all drooly googley eyed, making funny sounds and faces just for attention!!!

I know kids and pets aren't in the same league, but I have to laugh sometimes at pet-less people (like my sister in law who has a 4 month old) who FREAK at the slightest hint of poo anywhere other than in a diaper...I'm like, "poo goes in diapers? I thought it went on the new rugs???). I think it maybe has desensitized me a teeny tiny bit. But I'm ready for the big leagues now.

w4r, I can't see any of the pics!!! My stupid 'puter blocks anything photobucket-ey. But the captions are getting my imagination going strong. And I don't mind sharing about the specialist. Since my sweetie is also a gal, unless there is divine intervention or I do something that our marriage vows would certainly not allow, we won't be having any children on our own. So we have selected a donor (he's a fire-fighter, whoo-hoo!), and we're waiting to see a reproductive specialist in January who's going to do "the procedure" for us (me). From my understanding it's going to involve a lot of blood tests (yuck), ultrasounds, and drugs that are going to make me and hot-flashy and and . But if it all ends up in a baby belly it'll be worth it!!! It's very hard to wait, but we've been on a waiting list for some time now, and we only have three months to go...(tick...tick...tick...I'm not sure if that's a countdown or my biological clock...probably both!)

OMG, that's awesome that you would even consider being a surrogate...I know a few couples who would give their right arms to have a child, and have been searching for a surrogate for years....what a wonderful way to help a family come into being!

We are super-excited and hope everything works out

Bendy, if you make your browser accept what was the url (I am on a quick break..) oh yes, Photobucket, you may see it. Do you use Foxfire by any chance? if so, if there is a message at the top saying this has been blocked, look to the right and click on the Options tab and then add the site to the form that comes up. For IE, make it a list of the acceptable sites. I can't recall the Netscape option... sorry!! But I am guessing it COULD be one of those things and not your computer per se. Guessing being the operative term here.

to surrogate was a hard decision to make but one i had thought of for years with my friend. we have been friends since high school so its been in the back of my head since before i had my first.

he may or may not take me up on the offer. somewhere between the next (MY last) and the time i turn 35 is their window.

im really interested in the process (ok, maybe not the DETAILS if you know what i mean, but the fundamentals) and most parents are up for giving out advice... so you know if you have any questions!!! pregnancy is scary but soooooooo cool!!

Thanks for the offer, ashley

I am very excited about the whole experience (I just hope it works...) I've been reading all the books I can get my hands on and harassing the multitudes of pregnant women in my office for all the juicy details (ok, so I'm living vicariously, but I'm calling it "research" ) and doing all the temperature-taking and charting and trying to cut down on my beloved coffee and looking at ridiculously overpriced but ridiculously adorable little tiny itty-bitty clothes and carseats and cribs and...siiiiggghhh

Do the lap pads have plastic on one side or something to protect from wet stuff? Or are they like your basic receiving blanket (I plan on having about a zillion of those)?

so you have the changing table cover which covers the whole changing table... the lap pads are to cover that around the butt area. its great for changing on the floor, beds and covering pee from the wall... your shirt.... projectile pooping... you can use it and then toss it in the wash where as your sheets or your changing table cover are not only more expensive but have only one place you can use them. these guys fit anywhere, go anywhere and hold most anything. Jeffrey had a bad habit of pooping OUT his diaper, rocketing out the sides of it like little jets of yucky poo... lap pads saved our furniture soooo many times!!! the changing table and alarm clock and mirror, lamps... pants, shirts...

but yes, to answer your question, just like receiving blankets and feels similar (that felted feeling) but its about 3x as thick and a layer of thick woven material between the felted cotton. its hard to describe. get a pack and use it. if you are hooked, go get more. very cool stuff.

He's gorgeous, W4R!

I laughed when I read this earlier from work (procrastinating making my phone calls). Within 10 mins, Mrs. Schwinn called and was telling me how Gracie (who's potty training now) and filled a diaper and decided she should take it off...in her play room...then sit on her chair at her table...

I still can't change diapers without putting my shirt over my face. Oh, and if you don't believe that the universe has balance, next time you see a beautiful baby, take a whiff of the other end. I still marvel how something so evil can come out of something so sweet.

And when they're potty training, it gets better. Nothing like the bitter sweet moment of feeling pride that she learned to wipe her bum...but hoping she learns to use toilet paper soon

Or the time I took her in the guys washroom and told her several times "don't touch ANYTHING" (which probably sounded really funny to everyone else who couldn't see, only hear), only to turn around and see her hanging both hands over the bowl (let's just say, when it comes to public washrooms, guys are disgusting). So, I figure, fine. I pick her up, and squat down to face level to hold her on the side of the seat. She looks at me, giggles, and plants both hands on my cheeks. I still haven't used enough soap to get my face to feel clean. I'm thinking of amputating my cheeks...

But it is all worth it. I live for those days when they come into the bank I work at, and when Gracie sees me from the front door, runs as fast as she can all the way to my office yelling, "Daddydaddydaddydaddy!"

I've been called a lot of things...that, by far, is my favourite.

you remember that FIRST time she welcomed you so openly?? Chris just went through that a few months ago. came home from work and Jeffrey took one look at him walking through the door, yelled DADDY!!! ran over and hugged his knees. thats the third time ive ever seen my husband cry. the first time was when he found out he was a boy, second time was during the movie 'Bridge To Terabithia'.

all ewwie stories aside (why are they ALL about poop?! hey, Jeffrey once puked up my nose so it came back out my mouth!!!) its ALL THE REST of the moments that you hope to remember for the rest of your life.

Marko asked if NOT having children was selfish?? no, i think having babies is selfish... 2 or more, more so. the desire to perpetuate this beautiful thing has everything to do with being selfish.

you know, for all of our hectic schedules, busy work days, Cailyns attention needin issues.... it spills over, all that happiness. just floods that bad stuff all out the window. we have a hard time finding friends here because we are happy and realistic. the two cant seem to go hand in hand together because happy people are deluded and realistic people are cynical.

my family, we make each other so happy. its hard not to share that.

Schwinn- i was still wiping Cailyns butt at 4yo. thats when i met Chris. i was outside frog wrangling when Cailyn had to take a poo. second time he ever met my kid right?? well she HAD to have someoone stand outside of the bathroom while she went potty. he was THAT person ALL DAY LONG for her. well after pooping, she says OK IM DONE!!! loudly! he looked at me through the door, i just shrugged and thought if he can make it through that... he MIGHT be a keeper... went in there and here is Cailyn, feet and hands planted on the floor, poopy butt in the air!!!

he says he looks at her now, all Miss Independence, and has a hard time remembering how little she was back then.

Crystal- just wait till your preggers. you dont know the meaning of 'laughed till you peed'!!!! and gawd talk baby to me. i wanted to be preggers months ago but my thyroid has issues so i need to get it checked out first.
