dog has eye infection

It's a holiday here so can't see the vet today... but my dog has yellow pus in the corner of one eye. Noticed it a few days ago, but thought it might get better on its own. Definitely worse today. Any ideas what caused this? He is otherwise healthy: eating well and still very active.

sounds like conjunctivitous. pick up some polysporin eye ointment or drops. use it twice a day for about a week, if it doesn't look like it's getting any better in a day or two take him to the vet. conjunctivitous or not, it cannot harm the eye and helps if it's itchy or irritated.
