Ear bleeding on outside, any suggestions?

Hi there, my boxer Rex has a cut on the tip of his ear that won't stop bleeding. Everytime it stops and starts to scab and heal he shakes, and when he shakes his hear slaps against his head and starts to bleed again. We tried putting a bandaid on it but that doesn't work. We thought about taping the end. We just need to give it a few days to heal, but it won't do that b/c everytime he shakes it bleeds again. We try to stop him from shaking but its impossible, lol... he does it everytime he gets up, and after we put the bandaid on it he shakes, naturally b/c he's not used to something being on the end of his ear. Wondered if anyone had any suggestions? Not sure if a vet can do much that we can't, I'd rather try it first then give them the money for a visit that we could have done ourselves.. and its not bothering him from the looks of it, its just b/c its on the tip makes it hard to heal...

I might try putting styptic powder on the cut, and using surgical tape, tape in place a sterile pad covered by a cotton ball for cushioning on BOTH sides of his ear. If he is scratching at his ear you will need to put an e-collar on him for a few days.
