"It is August"

I found myself needing to remind myself that we here experience the odd (and the odder!) troll. August is one of those months. And we've had a few dillies of the troll variety lately.

That's not to say I shouldn't respond to posts which seem trollish ~ you never know who is lurking or just reading and could actually use the information. But, when I answer what I suspect is a troll post, what I try very hard to do (and with some threads/posts it's harder than others), is answer factually rather than emotionally. I don't always succeed ~ but I try.

"It is August" afterall ~ and this too shall pass.

I'm glad more people get steamed about these topics. Regardless if it's a troll or not. It means there are a bunch of true caring people who are very passionate about animals. It makes me happy when people get mad on here because all in all...it's for the bettering of the animals.

I will say though...mummummum has had a major impact on how I will react to those Never gonna get it people. Thanks!!

Keep on giving that great advice that you all give!

I don't usually respond to any threads until I see the person has several posts. So many people post only once to talk of a sick animal or ask for breeding information and who knows if they ever come back to read the replies. I assume they join every forum that comes up on google and ask the same question, so until I see they are here to stay I just skip over them. Terrible of me I know, but non-the-less it's true.

I certainly do my share of that.......of course my computer screen is the only thing that see's it. And many times I write out a reply to those one time posters, but I delete it before sending it through because it's offensive and rude.

SuP'NAD ~ you are very articulate and clearly love animals. I've enjoyed reading ALL your posts.

Frenchy ~ you and I are TOO alike ~ except you're far more tolerant than am I.

Lukka'sMa ~ I don't believe for a second that a rude word would know what to do in your mouth !

CLM ~ you "keep on keepin' on" girl !

Absolutely Frenchy, we all hear of the stupid things that people do like leave their animals (even children) in locked up cars in the summer.

Hey, I can handle message board trolls. But it's much harder to ignore them when they are real life trolls asking/saying these exact same things to my face.

I've never understood trolls. I mean honestly, what is the point of stalking various forums and posting a stupid topic they care nothing about just to watch people get riled over it? Are they really that much of a waste of life??? Can they really think of nothing better to do?? I thought that's what Warcraft was for....wasting life....LOL

I spent a while searching many of the pages looking for that "special troll-ish" one for Mx3, so I'm not surprised you didn't see them I hadn't until actually looking for them

God i hate trolls, come here make up long stories, get everybody involved and upset, then you never see them here again.I think it is very obvious even by their screen name and the way they type and what they are asking that it is a troll(IMO)and i see i am usually right,i dont even welcome newbies until i see they have been here awhile.

Please keep in mind that not all who come here arrive with the same knowledge of the regular members. Sometimes what might seem like a "dumb question" or a "stupid answer" comes from a genuine caring for the pet, and a real lack of knowlege. Many of the members here showed the same ignorance of facts when they first joined, and it was only through the compassion of the community that they became responsible and caring pet owners. Mistakes are made, sometimes with sad consequences. But it's only through compassion for both the animals and those who would care for them that we can help prevent future problems, and help enrich the lives of pets.

At the end of the day, if it means we happen to inadvertantly indulge the odd troll by trying to help the sincere newbies, then the ends justify the means.

Your friendly neighbourhood mod,
Ford

I agree with you, Ford but there's also a member that intentionally bothers us with her BYB postings.

Just an exemple : having a dog fall off a moving car and not bringing him to the vet or having a dog put down because it had lumps and diarya is not a genuine loving caring pet owner , it is not a lack of knowlege either ... it's just plain ... I won't even say it.

But I agree that someone who would post about a dog having soft stool because it's fed Purina is a lack of knowlege and that I can deal with it.
