Unhappy Can someone tell me what this is???

Hi,
I am new to this so I hope the picture worked. I have an 9 year old Golden who has this "tumorish" oral growth, maxillary between the 3 and 4th premolar. I noticed this when I went to clean her teeth, please say this is an infection and doesnt look cancerous.

That is an epulis which is a non-specific term for a gingival mass. While many of these can be benign, there are also some malignant gingival masses. To be on the safe side, surgical removal and biopsy would be recommended. Luckily, many are benign so cancer would be lower on the differential list! My differential list would be: benign epulis, infection (dental abscess) and last cancer. (But still have it removed and biopsied). BTW - if it is infection, antibiotics alone would not be sufficient since there would likely be root infection of the adjacent tooth. (your vet can determine this when biopsy is performed)

Nice picture. Good luck.
