Frances Wellness/Merrick Wet

i know she is going to start having hoarding issues from being so starved for so long... when should i start taking food away? she has weight put on but not enough muscle mass.

she is probably projected to weigh 8lbs, currently is MAYBE 5lbs, ill let ya know when we get back from the vets on monday... and she is pounding away 2 cans a day easy.

the cans say 1 can per 6lbs (i think).

thanks!!!

I let kittens eat as much as they want. If you notice her starting to get fat, then cut back to one can of the wet a day and free feed the dry. If she's wolfing down the dry too then you'd have to resort to scheduled feeding for her. If she's not getting chunky, then she's burning off what she's eating so I wouldn't worry about it.

Takes a while for young cats to fill out, just like young dogs. They seem to get lanky first and then fill in. Gabby actually felt like she was hollow when you picked her up, there never seemed to be much to her Hubby thought that Gabby was going to stay a skinny little waif, but she's filled out nicely now, doesn't have that scarecrow look anymore Our neighbours cat Crystal was the same thing, very thin, ate loads, but sooooo active. She's filled out nicely now.

I agree....they don't fill out and gain muscle mass until they're adults. I'd feed her a half can of wet twice per day and leave a bowl of kibble for her to snack on.
