Aggressiveness To Female Owner

My boyfriend and I inherited a small male dog. I'm the one who buys and gives the toys, treats, food, bed, etc. I try to spend time with the dog and walk him and play. However, he seems to hate me! He will jump on my lap, allow me to pet him, etc., but he has bitten me badly twice! He loves my boyfriend and cuddles up to him! I try to show authority and never feared him, but now I'm leary of him. He growls at me at times right after I feed him or give him a treat. I never had an animal dislike me like this before. All animals seem to sense that I love them and would never hurt them. Can anyone offer any assistance. It would be much appreciated.

Your dog doesn't respect you, or see you as the leader, so this may be helpfull. http://www.pets.ca/articles/article-dog_nilf.htm
