Question Dog with dry nose

Hello!

My six year old male basset hound is sporting a very dry nose. It appears that a light brownish crust slightly obscures his nostrils (not completely). Still, he doesn't seem bothered by it. He, and our other dog, are struggling a bit with feelings of displacement following the birth of our baby (now 8 months old). Could the nose be tied to this?

I read a couple of postings about nose infections, but I'm not sure if it's an infection that's causing the dryness. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
