Can you handle bathing her?.....Maybe if you can pop up to Ren's for some shampoo, (I'm sure they would know what to use), you could bath her and then she wouldn't smell quite so bad.

My brother in laws Golden was skunked..He took him to a groomer and they used 7 tubes of toothpaste to take the odor away? They say it is better than tomato juice?

Good Luck Chico!

Oh,I don't know, have never done that before,I am not allowed to put her back in her house,it's too cold to give her a bath outside:sad:
Hubby really do not want her in our house and neither do the cats, otherwise I would have no problem taking her in here.
The owner is taking her to the groomer tomorrow, but in the meantime she's alone in the shed:sad: with a heater(dangerous!!)
Poor little girl,I am going to check on her...let her out in their backyard for a while,we go for a walk around 1pm.

Chico - a friend of mine swears that dirt - soil - really helps with dogs who get sprayed by skunks. She keeps a bag of dirt in her back yard just for this purpose. Where she lives, her dogs get sprayed at least once a year and she just rubs the dirt into their fur. She says it works. She also told me that if a dog gets sprayed, he will naturally want to roll in dirt - the dogs know what to do!

HTH!

Thank's girls!
I do not want to take too many liberties, she is not my dog,I've already suggested better food etc...there is a heater in the shed for her,the shed(large with windows)is backing on to my fence, when I go over,I think I'll leave the shed-door open.
I could not bath her in there, the owner keeps all his carpentry-stuff there.
I'll watch her and walk her for today, hopefully she'll go for a shave and bath tomorrow Skunksmell doesn't bother me that much..
If she was my dog,it would be a different story..I just feel sooo sorry for her in the shed:sad:

Chico, I understand this isn't your dog. however, maybe you could print this recipe off and give it to them? I had a dog once who got sprayed and we used this formula and it worked miracles. And it's so easy to do. Good luck!

Mix ingredients (see below).
Rub mixture into the affected areas of your dog's coat.
Let sit for a few minutes.
Rinse the dog.

Tips
Don't try to wash the dog with anything else first. You may wind up just spreading the stinky chemicals around.
Don't try to store the stuff. It works because of a reaction between the two main ingredients, and this reaction will only run for a short time.

Warnings
Keep the stuff out of the dog's eyes.
This may lighten a dog's fur (my black dog turned gray).

Things You'll Need
1 qt. hydrogen peroxide
1/2 cup baking soda
1 tsp dishwashing detergent

1 litre de peroxyde d'hydrogene 3%

mélanger,appliquer,laisser agir et rincer.

Sorry, it's in french but I know your husband can translate. Poor Bailey

Try this product, I get it at my local pet store but the vet also carries it. It is called "Orange Appeal" and is made from the juice in orange peels. They sell a general cleaner which I use in the wash for dog blankets and on the carpet for stains (best stain remover EVER), and they also sell a product specially made for de-skunking that you can just spray on. The nice thing about this is that you can buy a bottle and keep it in the cupboard for next time and it is ready to use, and wont blow up like the peroxide and baking soda mix

Good luck

Thank's everyone,I'll tell the owner once she gets home.
When I went to get her,she was already outside, soaked to the bone from the rain:sad: very unhappy..
The husband had put everything outside, her food, her bed and everything was soaked,it had rained hard.
I brought her some new food(Solid Gold),dried her off and put dry stuff in her carrier(an old comforter).
She did not want to go for a walk, she just wanted to go inside the house:sad:
OMG,she made me cry...
I would have taken her home to my house, but by then the sun was shining and she was fine in her open crate, now dry.
I took all her soaked bedding and washed it,now my house STINKS,but that's ok.
I've already washed it twice,it still smells, would adding vinegar to the water help???
I am hoping she'll go to the groomer tomorrow, get shaved and then we'll start from there...I feel soooo sorry for her:sad: she is not a dog who likes to be outside by herself..I'll ask if they'd let me keep her in my house overnight,in the basement..I don't want her sleeping in the shed again:sad:

I heard that vinegar and water douche works for skunk smell (the Massengil kind). I think they tested it on Myth Busters too.......

Poor baby  Good luck! Let us know how it all turns out in the end.

Oh well,it did not work, she spent another night in the shed..where she is"warm and cozy"the dad said:sad:
Hubby was relieved..
I gave the dad the name of Orange Appeal, also the recipe for the peroxide mixture, but he had already used it twice.
I don't find Bailey herself stinks as much, the shed reeks though..
It's difficult when I go to take her for a walk and she's already outside, all she wants is to go inside,I distract her with treats etc...but she keeps going back to the door:sad:
Hopefully things will be better for her this weekend
Ps.the picture of her is from last summer, not yesterday

Awww poor Bailey:sad: I hope she can go inside this week-end, she must be so lonely out there.
Thank goodness she has you I'm sure that makes it much more bareable for her.

Hubby took the pics, not too good, there is only a chainlink fence seperating our backyard from hers, the rest is all high wood-fencing.
