i cant tell what it is and hes had it for quite a while. it started out as a little lump and turned into a pretty big thing that looked like a mass of dead skin.uhh its about the size of my pinky nail. its like a tan color. for a while he got a couple of them but they all went away and didnt get this big. it dosnt bug him at all it just grosses me out

its hard to describe sorry. its not as gross as it sounds

Hard to tell with out seeing it, could be a zit/pimple, or a wolf worm (fly larva), can you see a core (what color), or hole in the middle? Is there hair loss around the area? What kind of dog? (too many questions? )

Can you post a picture? Are you sure the others that went away were the same? How long did they last?

even ewwweyer

uuuh well i thought it was just a scab so i tried to take it off a couple months ago and it just bled and was a little pussy. i cleaned it up and just scabbed and grew back. ugh i sure hope its not what you said it was. it was the only one i tried to get rid of and was the only one that stayed. should i have a vet check it out. i had a breeder look at it once and they said it looked like a wart.

aulstralian shepherd, no hole or hair loss(no hair on it though) tannish color, looks like a mutant scab(extremely bad description)

If it is a zit it will go away on it's own. I don't know about warts. Finding out if it is a wolf is pretty easy, but I like to do it with rubber gloves on (not really needed, but it makes me feel better), with the scab peeled off is best, then just flood the area with water, if it is a wolf, it will start to drowned, and it will come out on it's own(it is just a small white worm), don't squeeze it out, I have heard that if you squeeze it, it will poison the dog, (I have never known of this to happen, but I don't take the chance), flush it! Run some more water over the area (let it flow through the hole), to rise it out (puppy will probably cry as it stings to wash out a cut) you can clean it with peroxide if you want, but I never have, then fill the hole up with Neosporin. The hole is bigger than you expect, and they usually loose the hair in the entire swollen area as it heals, but the hair grows back. They are really common down here, and I don't know of any way to prevent them if your dog goes outside.

As your pooch has had others and has had this one for a few months which is not going away on it's own ~ I would play it safe and ask your Vet to have a look.

It seems like all your pets have some kind of gooey ooey problems, maybe you should make it a day and take them all to a vet.

Well i just think that it might just be gross to you,but a bump could be something serious.

If you're lucky, it will be a fatty lump, if not , it could be cancer. I've been there, as soon as I see a lump on any of my dogs, I rush to the vet to get them tested. It's not that expensive and if it is cancer, and found soon enough, they get it removed and it may not come back. I wasn't that lucky with Daisy.

Since he needs his booster shots this month I would make the appointment right away so you can get the lump checked out. Good luck and keep us posted.
