New pics of Helix- our AKK!
Here are some new pictures of our little guy. He's about 3.5 months old now and he's getting so big so fast! His colour is changing pretty quickly too as his adult coat comes in.
This is his best friend Ella Luckily they can't get to each other through the door. Hiding under the ottoman with his new toy |

Oh man... that's trouble in the making, right there. That face!! Yeah, don't let this dog get away with much... if he's anything like mine, he grow up to know he's cute, and learn how to work it to his advantage. lol

OH MY!!! How adorable.
The cat and the puppy don't get along? Do you think they will? That would be a shame if you had to keep them separated. I have 3 cats and I am so greatful that they get along with my GSD. |

Thanks for all the great comments and the artistic photos. Sorry I just saw the post to keep pictures to 2 per post (oops!). He definitely is a cutie- and he knows it. He assumes everyone that comes to our house must be here to see him and he gets very frustrated if they don't pay attention to him! Walks take a long time because everyone stops us to ask what kind of dog he is and how big he will get (or they just assume he's a Siberian and that he'll be huge). They're always surprised to find out he'll only be about 15 pounds! We couldn't be happier with him- he's perfect for us!
Oh and he is making progress with the cats. Right now they are more or less separated- the cats have their own area to run to that he can't get to and that's where their food, water. tree and litter box is. They also have the bedrooms and bathroom upstairs- where they sleep most of the day while Helix is downstairs in his crate. When we're home, Helix has the run of the kitchen, dining room and living room and occasionally the cats will wander in. They've learned that as long as they jump somewhere high, then he can't get to them. We try to keep his focus off of them when they are around- that's the biggest problem because he wants to play with them and they don't. Now that he's getting a bit older and calming down (plus he's getting more exercise because it's warm out- only -10!) they interact a lot better. I ordered some soft paws for the kitties so that I need to be less concerned that he'll get his eyes scratched out so we'll see how that goes (normally I just cut their nails myself to keep them short). I'm fairly certain that they will adapt to each other eventually. Last edited by Cram; February 20th, 2007 at 10:08 AM. |

Hehe... the oogling is definitely not a problem. It gets a little embarrassing sometimes just because there will be other beautiful dogs and puppies around us and people will stop and comment on Helix, but ignore the others We certainly didn't get him just for the attention! His breed is simply perfect for us .

That's how this happened (in an area FULL of dogs, he got singled out). http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=36004 It was flattering, for sure... but embarrasing? INDEED! lol |
