Exclamation Recent Vaccination Adverse Effects

Hello everyone,

I recently had my mom's two chihuahuas (6 months old) taken to the vet abd given their vaccinations (CDV CPV CAV-2 CPI & Rabies). The one dog Chico vommited twice within 2 hours and then I returned him back to my moms. It's been a week and my mom called me and told me both dogs are not eating, Rico is loosing his hair and I think both have bloody diarrhea. Rica also bit her finger on one occasion. Any one have any information? I called the Vet but they are closed today. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

I don't have any information, but it really sounds like they should see a vet asap. Please make sure they do so.

My cat had a reaction similar to what you're describing after she had her yearly vaccinations. Multiple vomiting within a short period of time and eventually bloody diarrhea. I took her immediately (that same evening) to an emergency vet and they put her on antibiotics and meds for the diarrhea.

Please take the dogs to a vet immediately, search for an emergency vet if your regular one isn't available.

The vomitting is likely a reaction to the vaccines, the other symptoms "could be " they picked up a virus while at the vets.

Another thought have they started a new food or new bag of food just before getting ill? Sometimes a bag of food can spoil and develop a fungus which can make dogs very ill and even die from.

In either cases dogs should see a vet right away and if new food take along, the vet may be able to send it out to a lab for testing
