Pet Question: Importing Domestic Dog??

My dog is less than 8 months old and I am planning on importing it from Taiwan (categorized as rabies-free country). I did a brief research on Canadian Food Inspection Agency and here is what it says.

Quote:

Domestic or pet dogs between the ages of three (3) and eight (8) months, which are accompanied by their owners, require rabies certification in accordance with Section 2 if from a rabies-free country, or in accordance with Section 3 if from a country that is not designated as rabies-free. No additional certification is required.
It sounds pretty easy but here comes the question. I am an international student and can international student import dogs?

Thanks,

Yes, you can.

From CFIA website:
"Do the requirements listed apply to pet dogs imported on a temporary basis, such as a visit or while travelling through to another country?

Yes, the requirements apply to all pet dog importations including temporary visits and in-transit visits."

I don't know where you live, but if you have more questions, I suggest you contact the Animal Health Import specialist in your area:

Good luck!

Also do yourself a favor and make sure all of your dog's vet records are with you and up to date. I know in the States, you need to prove not only rabies vaccination but that the animal has a fully clean bill of health and up to date innoculations.
