I didn't like the singer guy too much, but the images were still good. I'm a big rememberance day person. We owe a lot to the people braver than us who served our country (and those who continue to). The world would be a much more horrible place today had it not been for them.

I saw this last year. Makes me choke up every time! We need to remember our soldiers and support them in every way possible. I disagree with us being in some of our current situations but support our troops in anything they need. I say if they want Starbucks plus Tim Hortons then go ahead and blow another 5 million!
PS - My parents met in the airforce, my 2 brothers are now ex-airforce and my sister's hubby just came back from a tour in Afghanistan.

I, too, am a big Rememberance Day person. I had family members on both sides who fought in both World Wars, and an uncle who spent almost 20 years in the Navy. I always proudly wear a poppy (and have to buy several each year because I lose them
) and got one for the car this year, too. My FIL lied about his age to join the British navy in WWII and served til the end on a minesweeper. When she learned about this, my daughter got really quiet-and then we found out that she volunteered to memorize "In Flander's Field" and recite it at school, as well as tell about her grandfather. It was a very proud moment for us. And my response, always, to the vets who sell the poppies when they say thank you is "No, thank you!"

Skryker, the trick is to get 5 poppies in one shot.
But you have to pay enough to make it worth their while.![]() (that's the only way to ensure you have one on Nov 11th) Your daughter sounds like a great person.

Thanks, Prin! But she's 14, so for every moment like this there are 5 potato-washing incidents (http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=30348)

Kudos to your daughter.
That makes up for at least five potato washing incidents. And, I'm very proud of her for standing up in front of her peers to tell her grandfather's story. |

I agree. Definitely worth 5 potato incidents and maybe an "I hate you!" or two.
![]() I'm on the other side though- only one great uncle in my family fought in the war. My grandmother worked in the factories and whatnot, but none of the other men stepped up. I feel I owe the veterans even more as a result. They fought for my family when my family wouldn't fight for itself.
