This could be tapeworm although a vet must examine your cat to know for sure. If you bring a stool sample your cat can be tested for worms but some types may not show ( tapeworm is one of them I think) up in the testing. This is why it is important to bring your cat in for an exam instead of home treating without the test. You will misdiagnose and that's bad for your animal
I personally think that cats do mind alot when they have worms of any sort..it must be quite uncomfortable for them at the very least! |

Most definately bring your cat to the vet.And yes bring a stool sample.Your vet will be able to test it.And test the cat.He will then prescribe some worming medication.
Please do not wait. Good luck.

Not to scare you but.......My dog had severe worms. I had given an over the counter med. Umm didn't work. It actually took 6 months to get rid of the little buggers..the vet said that some worms become immune to the meds....she was using triple doses on my girl. I took along time before I could spagetti again :P

This definitely sounds like tapeworms. The "worms" you see coming out are actually dead segments; they sometimes move because of nervous system activity of some kind. My cat actually had them last fall, it's GROSS! They can get it from hunting, or just being near dead rodents.
Take your cat (& a stool sample if possible) to your vet. Only one pill is necessary to kill them off, the vet can administer this.

Well I feel for you, I know how horrid it is!
They're not life threatening unless the cat has them for a real long time & starts losing weight. There are actually people who intentionally get tapeworms so they can lose weight. Just thought I'd share.

It's all good. I don't mind.
But on a different note, I JUST CRINGE at the thought of worms inside me. I rather loose weight with excersize. |
