Hello Everyone. wow great site. i have a cat friend we call lovesqueek who has fiv and felv. part of her health regime is alpha interferon a. i'm concerned about the length of time it takes for antibody buildup to interferon when administered orally in low doses...
30 to 50 units/daily. the only reference i've found states that it takes " a very long time". not terribly definitive. my understanding is that antibodies would diminish or eliminate interferon's usefullness. i use a daily dosing schedule of 30 units. i might go to 50 units. FYI i found two studies showing signifcant benefits for fiv and felv cats and alpha interferon a. they can be found at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=PubMed by searching for " low dose oral alpha interferon in cats" thank you for any help.
