Unhappy chewie keeps chewing...everything!

hi there!
I have a 7 month old golden retriever/malamute cross
named chewie. He's incredibly beautiful, friendly, smart, and large.(almost 100 pounds already)and....he's finally potty trained!!!YAY!! So our problem is that he has a chewing addiction.
I've had to replace the back seat of my car, roomates couches,
and the list goes on.I believe he knows its wrong.Because if I walk into the room or catch him with something in his mouth,or in mid chewing of some item he'll drop it.If he is in a room (such as one with hard wood floors and he can't try to rip up the carpet,he'll start knawing on the floor.I understand that he may be teething and I know that dogs do this;its just that it never stops! Except when he is sleeping or out playing or walking. And believe me ,we do our best to exert as much of his puppy energy
as possible.
We have been using a cloth muzzle to discipline him a bit, when we catch him say.... chewing the cable cord off the t.v.
we say "no" and put on his muzzel for a while. Is this mean?
We have to do something its costing a fortune, and making things hard.I love my dog.
Is there something wrong with his teeth? And yes I have tried the bitter apple. And yes he has every chew toy known to man kind. He's taken to throwing them out the windows while we're
driving.Is my doggy spoiled?Or simply a delinquent?
I'll still love him either way I just need some help,or reassurance that its not forever. That I'll be able to go to the bathroom or sit down and relax without having to jump on him every 2 seconds. I'm sure someone out there hears me!
Happy holidays!
Deb&Chewie

Thumbs up Have you ever tried..........

these products, anti-chewing spray, tabasco sauce. The chewing spray is sold almost everywhere and most supermarkets sell tabasco sauce, it works while fresh but you have to keep applying it, it worked for me. russte By the way welcome aboard!

This post is 5 1/2 years old and the OP no longer visits here. I wonder how her dog is doing? She shouldn't have called him Chewie.

ROFL rainbow! That's exactly what I was thinking and I was so disappointed when you pointed out how old the post is cause I was going to answer with:
"Well, first of all.. I'd say the problem is that you named this dog 'Chewie'..."

Hee hee.....I was thinking the same thing and that was going to be in my reply until I read the "happy holidays" at the end which made me look at the date.

Awww, don't feel dumb......we all got a good laugh from this old post. Name a dog "Chewie" and that's what you get. So, thanks for finding this for us.
