Exclamation Prescribed medicine isn't helping!

I have a an 11 year old dog that was taken to the vet a couple of days ago because she was having pain in her front legs and neck. The vet told me that she had arthiritis and gave her a shot and pills to numb the pain; I've been giving the pills just as the vet told me to and they don't seem to be helping her at all, in fact she's worse than she was.

The pain is up in her front legs and neck, she whines and screams from time to time while she is walking or trying to pull her head up. This morning it seems that her stomach and the area around her legs is swollen but it doesn't seem to hurt her. So if this isn't arthiritis, what is it?

It's a trip back to the vets, it sounds like the initial diagnosis was wrong.

As she's screaming in pain, she should be back at the vet's office pronto. A further look is very much needed.

Please call your vet immediately. Also it would be extremely helpful if you told us the breed of dog - the symptoms your dog is displaying can seem to be as per your vet's diagnosis - or the symptoms of a much more serious problem, especially in certain breeds - I won't alarm you further with details - just please get to the vet. X-Rays will be required.

Thankfully, the vet let me bring her in yesterday just after posting this topic here. Turns out, he was wrong the first time and this time tells me she has a pinched nerve that runs between her right front leg and neck. The swelling she had in her back half was just a side-effect of the last medicine the vet gave her..... though he really should have told me about such a side-effect.
