Old cat not eating much

My 16 year old cat has really decreased his eating. He is getting skinny and shows that jumping up on furniature is a problem. I got him wet food instead of cat chow but he is still not eating much. Would this just be a sign of old age? He does not seem to be in distress, but slowed down.

Weight loss and failure to eat in an old cat are both serious. Please take your cat to the vet. He may be suffering more than it appears.
