My cat has Renal Lymphoma?
My cat Oscar; which was frequently drinking water and urinating, constipated, vomiting, loss of appetite and having an enlarged kidney was recently diagnosed with maybe Renal Lymphoma.
I say maybe because the vet was not sure, im hoping the specialist on this board can help me with this problem, could it be something else? If it is Renal Lymphoma, is it treatable? Also the Mirtazapine tablet given to the cat caused him to vomit food chunks for the first time as opposed to the usual liquid. Last edited by mcwooty; October 16th, 2008 at 08:16 PM. |

This site has alot of infomation on Feline Chronic Renal Failure http://www.felinecrf.org/ and for the information and links about Renal Lymphoma http://www.felinecrf.org/causes_of_crf.htm#cancer
Was an xray or ultrasound done to look at the kidneys or is this based on the bloodwork? Was Oscar also checked for urinary crystals? It is common in older male cats especially only that eat dry food only, and can display some of the same symptoms or can occur at the same time. Have you spoken to the vet about vomiting the Mirtazapine? This is used to calm the stomach & prevent nausea. If Oscar is still vomiting, he should be reassessed & the meds adjusted Is Oscar receiving IV fluids? this will not only help to lower the urea in the blood which contributes to the nausea, but also flush out toxins & make him feel better overall. Lymphoma of any kind is still cancer, it can be supportively treated but not cured
