Urinating Cat problem

Hi Ihave a problem with my Male cat who is fixed. He urinates in my basement on the outside walls. We have carpet and this is becoming a real problem. What can I do? I just started to let him outside a week aqgo hoping this might correct the problem. What can I use to get the smell out?

There are products you can get at the petstore, like "Nature's Miracle" that will remove pet odours.

For now keep the cat out of the basement.
