New Puppy.... stressed?

We just got my puppy last week. He has switched foods about 3 or 4 times. Now he is eating boiled chicken in with his hard food. He now refuses to eat the hard food. He got his shots yesterday, and today he is listless and hasnt wanted to play at all. He keeps going poop (which is liquid) and his last one had traces of blood in it. This pat week he has been back and forth between home, and two jobs. Do you think his reaction is related to being stressed, with new food, and homes, and animals, in addition to his shots yesterday? or is it something more serious. he is so little, were just not sure

How old is your puppy? When did he get his first set of shots? What kind of food has he been getting?

re

He is 3 weeks old. we were told he is a miniature poodle, but he looks more like a miniature cocker. He had his shots yesterday ( Saturday 10-29). He was eating Pedigree when we got him but it made his poop runny. So we switched him to avo derm for puppies. It was recommended to us to try this wal-mart brand food, but it made his pee super yellow, and his poop yellow n runny. so currently hes back on the avo derm and boiled chicken, but hes not eating much avo derm. mostly chicken. he doesnt eat treats either.

If he is three weeks old, his stool might be runny because he's not ready for puppy food yet.

When you change the food over, do you do it abruptly or do you change gradually? Doggies can take a long time to adjust to new food, especially a completely different kind like AvoDerm. You need to take at least a week to change the doggy over and even then, the dog might still have a hard time.

Definitely don't buy anything you can get at walmart or grocery stores. Have you looked into the Dog food Forum here? You can learn what brands we like and don't like in there (we're very repetitive...). Isn't avoderm vegetarian? Or is that only one formula that's vegetarian? Could be that your doggy needs more meat in his food and just doesn't like eating or doesn't need that much grain and veg.

Has this guy been dewormed? What shots did he get? The diarrhea was occurring before the shots too? Did the shots make it worse?

Switching food 3-4 times in a week is bound to mess up his digestive system no matter how good the food is. That's a new food every other day! I would pick a (high quality) food and stick with it, give it about 3 weeks before switching again, if you have to.

Makes sense. The avoderm is chicken meal and rice. He got DeWorm, DHP parvo, and corona. the people we bought him from gave him the bordatella as well. He had runny poop before, but we think that was the switching food. It has just been since the shot. we are thinking we saw traces of blood because he pooping so much his bottom is very red.

Maybe ask the vet how to stop this bout of diarrhea before the doggy gets completely uncomfortable...
