UPDATE: the baby and Briggs!

Hi all!
Just wanted to give you a bit of an update with our new baby and the animals. We're all doing wonderful! Briggs is a GREAT big sista!! She LOVES Carter so much!! She is very well behaved with him and protects him nicely from the cat With other family members and guest she quietly places herself between them and the baby.
Conner (the cat) could really care less. I've caught him a couple times getting into Cart'er stuff, but nothing major.. Briggs makes sure of that. Conner won't go near the bassinet or the crib which is GREAT!!

Everything is going better then I could have imagined with them and the new addition...

It makes me really wonder what the heck people are thinking when they get rid of an animal before the baby arrives...

The only sad thing is that Briggs has been demoted to being "the dog" We still spend a lot of time with her, but it's different now.. she' not the baby anymore! And I think she knows it LOL
Briggs' first real sniff!

Aw sammiec, congratulations! Looks like Briggs is enjoying the new baby as much as everyone. Don't worry about not being the baby any more, Bear adjusted just fine once he realized he was allowed to go near the baby and not get in poopoo.

Beautiful pics, by the way.

She's eating the baby! I see that tongue tasting him. "I want my baby-back, baby-back, baby-back ribs" (remember Fat B*st**d?)

So cute! Thanks for the update. I'm really glad your little family is doing so well.

Glad to hear it, Sammie! Daisy is the exact same way with Gracie. And for people like Prin, I usually tell them, "Well, to Daisy, Gracie is a two-bite vanilla brownie!"

sammie - the pictures are fantastic and Carter is gorgeous! Poor sweet Briggs - makes my heart melt. Just wait - she and Carter are gonna be best buddies and she'll find out that being a sister is even better than being the baby. Hugs!!

Beautiful pics!! So nice that Carter will have the opportunity to grow up with a wonderful dog friend. Briggs is such a sweet girl, I"m not surprised she loves her new "little brother".

Thx for sharing such great pix. This reminds me of my brother and our fox terrier. (and you prob all are tiring this old story, lol)At first, she was miffed and thought her place as THE BABY in the family was supplanted, just as any human toddler would feel I suppose. Then she realized she was still just as important to all of us and her instincts as a protective doggie kicked in and she parked herself in front of the crib. Of course, she was very choosy about who got to see the baby, lol

Later, she followed him everywhere as he learned to walk - it was always debatable who got the most Arrowroot cookies - she smart at placing her self strategically around his walker and stroller, lol And my kid brother woulkd oblige by placing his tiny fingers in her mouth so she could get whatever pieces she missed, lol

I honestly believe babies who grow up with animals,be they cats or dogs or whatever, will become better people because of it..
