Does nicotine kills parasitic worms?

My friend told me that a vet told her she could feed her dog a cigarette to kill any parasitic worms. Is this safe? Is that really effective?

I hope you're joking. Never ever do this. If a pet has worms, please take it to the vet for appropriate medication.

It might kill worms, (not sure about that) and it might kill your dog too! Nicotine is very toxic, especially to dogs.

Take a fecal sample to your vet so you find out what sort of worms, it should not cost much at all.

That vet needs to have his license revoked. What an idiot!! Did he also tell your friend to give the dog chocolate, because that is probably AS toxic, if not more than nicotine. We are all educated enough to know how toxic nicotine is to humans, why would it be healthy for dogs!! That vet needs a PUNT to the head!!!
