Smile Underweight

My 10 week old pup Dozer is 14 lbs. He is a Siberian Husky/ Pit mix. I adopted him from the local shelter. He seems very skinny. Is there a puppy food that I can feed him to get him back on track? You can see his ribs and I dont want him to get sick from being so small. Should I add something to his food?

There's a thread around here somewhere called "Fatten me up?" where somebody asked about things to add... It's a long thread...

I would say just feed the best possible puppy food you can. Wet food tends to have more fat, so that might help a bit.

Here are some great puppy foods:

Wellness Super5Mix Puppy
Chicken soup for the pet lover's soul Puppy
Solid Gold Hundnflocken Puppy
Merrick Puppy Plate (Merrick has the absolute tastiest canned foods too... they're just craziness!)

Just thought that I would add something regarding puppies and weight. Never let your puppy get overweight. This puts a tremendous strain on their growing bones and ligaments and could result in damage later on to their body structure.

Keep a puppy lean, but not underweight either. If you are concerned, speak to your vet and they will be able to guide you as to how much your puppy should weigh.

Smile Underweight pup!

I took Dozer to the vet today and she said nothing of his weight. And I was to freaked out about the whole worms thing to ask. Should I wait until all the worms are gone before I try to fatten him up? The vet also said that he has Toxicity(sic)? She said its from stress? Could that also be playing a part in his weight?
