How much do you spend on toys a year?

Just a ballpark guess. I'm wondering because everybody who brings their dog over here comments on the sheer abundance of toys in this place. My doggies are picky. They like new toys.

I'd say I spend at least $75 a year on toys. They like the air dogs and they're about $10-15 a pop (heh heh, literally).

Missy came to visit us last summer for a week and she loooovved playing with all the toys my doggies didn't like anymore... She would go in the bin and take one out, play with it a bit, then get another and another... She didn't have a lot of toys so she was in HEAVEN.

Here's Missy..

You are such a pollster...And those pics are so funny! I must spend $60 (american) on those rope toys alone every year--they get very stinky, like dog breath mixed with mushrooms and dirty socks.

So that's about $72 CDN... If you would like to vote in Canadian.. . I think the values are nearly the same now, so it doesn't matter too much... I didn't think about currency... And the first option is dogs only, oops. So many polls and none end up perfect. Gotta keep practicing!!

What great pics, your babies are so lucky to be so spoiled!

My girls don't play with toys but I always buy new ones when we get new fosters because I send the toys with them to thier new home so i don't even want to guess about how much I spend. Brandy dons't want anyone to play so she takes the toys and lays ontop of them her nicname is Captin Bringdown Here she is in action

As Tucker gets older, I'm sure it'll slow down (a little) but he's a puppy, so toys don't last long in my house. (even so called tough & virtually indestructible ones) I voted $75-$100 (US) easily. I have gotten better, and now I do surgery to remove the squeeker from a mangled toy, and put it in an old sock, knot it, and viola, new toy, free.

My darling Tucker goes through toys at an alarming rate, but he loves rawhide bones so included that in my count. My kids complain that I buy more for the dog than them.

High end of 51-75

Shadow and Halo get new toys periodically, this total doesn't count what other people spend on toys for them does it?? Halo is like Missy - the hoarder of toys. If Shadow looks at a toy Halo grabs it and lays on it. Shadow is good at finding tennis balls tough (even though we don't really play with them due to the size) - she'll walk past a bush, stick her head in and pull out a tennis ball. Don't know how she knows they're there, but she never misses! Halo either rips out the squeekers herself or they just break down. We had a bunny that said Happy Easter, Happy Easter (actually rather annoying and actually we bought two - one each) and we'd just tell the girls "Go get Happy Easter" and they'd grab those things and get them talking...

Buddy is not big on toys but gets lots of chewies and any other thing that I think he might like. Yes I am one of those people who will buy anything for my big boy, he deserves it.

Doggy Bag

So Prin, did Missy get to take some old toys home since you said she didn't have many of her own??? Shadow never chews on rawhides, but every time we'd go to my girlfriends house she'd steal one of theirs and bring it home.

I gave her a kong, but that was all her owner let her have... They lived up stairs from a very very unreasonable mean landlord, and toys were too noisy. Now she lives in a duplex that her owner owns, so she can have what ever she wants!

Prin I have owned all of those toys at one time or another and Rocky has easily deomolished them all in seconds He loved "cool Kong" but if left to chew it well it would not be left! I now only buy the huge black kongs which are often more than $25. a pop and how many have we lost this year OHHH I dont want to think about it. And I live at harbourfront, let me tell you from experience the big kongs don't float for long. I have spent hours trying to fish them out of the lake with poles and branches just to watch in horror as yet another twenty five bucks sinks to the bottom of lake Ontario He has now reduced his latest jumbo kong just to the ball part, it will soon be gone, I need to start buying in bulk

They do make Kongs that float, they are kind of a mottled blue and white, with a yellow rope attached. Tucker loves to play with his in the pond and the rope is great to throw it with, gets more distance.

They're called "Cool Kongs". But they don't float very high in the water. My doggies can't see it in the water. That's why I like the air dogs. The stick one or the one shaped like a jack float best (I think). The jack has like 6 different arms so it's easy to grab too. The foot ball is good too, but it gets holes easily and would probably sink eventually. YEY toys!!

But they are like tennis balls are they not? Tucker has a bad habbit to spliting tennis balls in half, he just bites down on them until eventuly they break in half.

Yeah, but I only let them play with them in the water. They're also a bit more flexible so they don't really "pop" like tennis balls. They can squeeze them without breaking them. Eventually they do break in half though...

And thats the reason that we spend so much money on the little darlings. The only thing Tucker doesn't destroy is the kong toys and a tire toy that he has, he will put me in the poor house the little sweetie

The only problem with it is Tucker throws it down the stairs and I end up with skid marks down my white walls, you'd think someone was racing up the wall . LOL

I bought Joey a kong with aerosol doggie peanut butter. I guess grooming and other stuff doesn't count. But I have bought two brushes for him already, a 35 dollar leather leash for doggie school. I usually will pick up a doggie treat once in a while too, like one of those doggie cookies. He adores his two stuffies that he came with and carries them everywhere he has a teddy bear and a killer whale. He gets into arguments with them though so I dont know what his issue is with his little pals I think he thinks they are his kids. Oh I voted the 100 one because I can see myself spending that.

Yes these are his fave! Right Prin thats the "cool Kong" But he can chew them in minutes. The big kongs that dont float werent meant to end up in the lake, they just eventuallly do! He can and has chewed up any toy Ive ever gotten for him, that why he now gets the jumbo black kong, the black ones are the strongest, I guess the coloured pigments make the rubber weeker but the black ones arent as cute!

I think they're just a different rubber. My doggies don't like the black ones.. I use them as door stoppers.
