popular

What are the most popular pets in your area, dogs, cats, birds, exotics?
In the Ottawa area Goldens seem to be very popular.

We just moved, so I don't know about here, but back in Ahuntsic (burough of montreal) there were pitties, pitties, and black lab crosses (otherwise known as "SPCA Special"). In our dog park there are usually at least 5 black dogs for every one of a different color.

Dogs seem to be the most popular... goldens I see the most, then Berners, GSD's, Saints and Danes.. not many small dogs around here, I guess due to large properties people feel more comfortable with the big guys.

Our road is a farm road, so in addition to the horses, cows, goats, pigs, and sheep, we have a couple jack russles, a couple goldens, a couple border collies, some labs, some hounds, a bulldog, and lots of cats. It's wild kingdom.

Dogs appear to be tops in my neighbourhood, unless there are a bunch of indoor cats that I do not see. Don't seem to have any outdoor cats wandering around. Black Labs, Goldens, Tollers are plentiful; couple of Boxers, JRTs, and mini poodles. Then the best breed of all, the Mutt -- lots of great ones around.

Dogs seem more popular in my area but that's probably because cats don't get walked like dogs. Since there are so many more cats at the humane society then dogs, I have to assume that cats are really more populated than dogs...

Anyway, from my observations, Ottawa seems to be densely populated with golden's and labs or mixes of those 2. Although small dogs like bichon's, shih tzu's and maltese's are quite popular (although not at the dog park)!!

Mostly dogs that I see, indoor cat who knows? Alot of cross breeds around, but quite a few goldens and labs.
