Dog with sore paw
I have a 9 month old rotti and he seems to have hooked a toe in a gopher hole. He limps a little but will run and play. Will heat or ice help relieve the swelling. The older dog did this before but there was never any swelling. Anyone with a thought, I would appreciate the advice.

Btw, if the 9 month old pup is injured I would not let him run & play until the injury could be examined by a vet.

I would suggest as the others did. Take the pup to the vet to get checked and keep quiet until you do so. Ice will help with swelling. Swelling is caused when the body sends a chemical to injured areas which protects the area. The cold will release the chemicals from that area.

sore toe
Well the only time him limps is when he first gets up. The leg is straight but the baby toe is slightly swollen. He has an appt on Friday, nothing seems to stop him as he runs and plays with no limp.I just want to help him is possible in the meantime.

That seems to be quite a wait. I would see if you could get in earlier, cancellation.

sore paw
Well the vet called and he went in today. Nothing serious just twisted no broken bones. Yeah. Just put ice and heat for the swelling as he tolerates.
