My Queen Ophelia, stopped feeding her 2 babies. We literally have to hold her down so they can nurse. I've tried giving them runny kitten food and they're just are not interested yet.... One is still thriving and nurses with gusto when we restrain Ophelia, but the other little darling seems to have lost interest and is becoming very lethargic. I should tell you also that the babies had very bad fleas and I bathed them with an organic shampoo, on Tuesday, which arrested the problem, but I fear Ophelia can't smell her babies and just doesn't think they are hers. I'm thinking perhaps the little one became a little anemic or is weak from not being allowed to nurse at will. She will not nurse formula from a kitten baby bottIe and I thought we would lose her during the night as I only managed to get such a miniscue amount formula from my finger into her....(not enough to keep a bird alive)
As a last resort, I put a little on a plastic spoon and got her to sup some of the formula 6:00am this morning. About 4 or 5 half teaspoons. I tried burping her but she fell asleep. I'm heading to the grocery store shortly for some infant vitamins which I will add to her formula and I'll continue trying to feed her with the spoon . What else if anything, can I do?? Thank Gawd, I'm on Holidays today and Monday so I can devote the time to helping her....Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
