Dalmation skin problems

I have a 5 year old dalmation male who has numerous scabs on his nose and as a result it is very itchy and he losses a lot of hair. It is spread up to as high as inbetween his eyes. He gets a range in size of scabs non stop. I have taken him to the vet and they have ruled our ring worm but have no idea what to do about it or how to treat it. Any ideas? It is very itchy and very red!

Could it be a staph infection, environmental allergy, mites...? Skin problems can be really tough to figure out...sounds like a different vet might have some ideas; I'd get another opinion if he was my dog.

This is a really good site for pet info:
