whistling sneeze question
I have a cat that is approximately 7 years old-I got him as a stray at work. He sneezes (I guess) but it sounds just like he is whisling. Has anyone experienced this or is this a sign of any disease that I'm not picking up on? I've had cats all my life & have never experienced this!!!
Thanks, Jayna |

Sneezing
Hi there,
SOUNDS LIKE MINE! I have kittens with feline herpes virus (FHV), and one of the symptoms is sneezing, and wheezing. Some of my kittens have nasal discharge and sneezing and others have only discharge. Stray cats are succeptible to this, for obvious reasons... My Vet said it's not that big of a deal, that they can get an outbreak (like the human virus) when stressed, and that yearly vaccinations against the virus would keep it at bay. BUT if you do have another cat, I don't want to discourage you, the other cat will catch it too. Humans do not get it though, only cats. The main thing with FHV cats is to vaccinate them and keep the medication (~$15 CDN/yr) on hand. Otherwise, these babies are perfectly fine, and just as loveable as any other babe! Happy to hear you're a helper of pals, Duality |
