Cats are family too

I am here with sad news. My cat Cocopuff was killed by dogs in her own garden. She was much beloved family pet and I am stuggling with trying to put a stop to the dog problem. No one seems to care about the death of one cat. The more I investigate to see if any other neighbors have had problems the more sad news I hear.Irresponsible dog owner lets their killer dogs run riot in the neighborhood and doesn't a **** about the life of a cat. Next time it could be a child. .I am in the process of putting up a website to make it public. Does anyone have any resources for DNA testing I have collected DNA samples form the suspect dogs that have been terrorising the neighborhood and would like it matched to the saliva on her cat collar if possible.

I am so very sorry for your loss  My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
As for the dogs in question, I have no idea how to go about DNA testing, hopefully a more experienced member will be able to help you with that.

Catmum,of course our cats are part of our family and I am really sorry for yours having been killed under such terrible circumstances
I don't know how it is in the UK,but here in Canada(at least where I live!) any dog running loose will be caught and if aggressive more than likely be put down. The owner,if found gets a slap on the wrist.
On the other hand, leaving your cats outside on their own, anything can happen  especially if you do not have a fenced yard..
I have no idea about DNA testing on dogs, but I wish you luck in your endeavor and again,I am very sorry for your loss of little Cocopuff

Would one of the animal protection groups over there help you, say the RSPCA? I've always admired the pro-animal ethic that seems to prevail in England. Has it 'gone to the dogs'?

So sorry to that!!! There is one Doggy DNA lab, but I don't know if they'll do that. Call them and see.

So sad!

I am so sorry to hear about your poor kitty! I don't know anything about doggy DNA, I just wanted to let you know that I feel for you and your family.

I am hoping it won't come to putting the dogs down. The owner is responsible and its unlikely they are being well cared for. 2 large dogs plus other animals in a one bedroom house with a small garden can't be good. However the problem is that the owner encourages them to kill rabbits -which are plentiful and a cat to a dog is the same thing. The dogs live 1/2 mile away and fencing the yard to keep out the dogs has been done for a large portion of the garden but it can't be done completely. My house is big and detached fences would also prevent deer, rabbits and foxes from having escape routes. The child's playground and park are now no-go areas as well.

sorry about the bad link - some of the areas are password protected and the message is meant to be 'tongue in cheek' for any potential hackers
(I think this is the address - works on mine- appologies if it doesn't work!!!
