Summer of Sam - 1999

This is an amazing film IMO and one of my favorite Spike Lee movies.

It's the story of the summer of 1977 in New York when the 'Son of Sam' serial murders freaked everyone out.

The cast is great and the film works on many different levels, exploring different themes such as mass hysteria and the persecution of Jesus.

LOVED it! 9/10

Seven out of ten for my rating...

I did rent this film, and found it very good, and a memorable movie, Well acted, and well worth viewing!

The only critism I'd make ( my own personal slant of course) was that it occassionally lapsed into what I would call gratutious sex scenes. The orgy scene for example. Was this relevant to the flim theme - or just an 'add-on" for its own sake? This detracted from the flow of the film - to me.

I must admit though - I've not seen a lot of Spike Lee films. and so perhaps dont understand the full scope of his film making.

Overall - one of the better films I have seen this year.
