My dear Amelia crossed the Rainbow Bridge
My dear pointer Amelia crossed the Rainbow Bridge early yesterday morning. She went peacefully in her sleep at home. She had multiple health problems but lived to fourteen. She had been adopted at age ten form the Toronto Humane Society, someone's hunting dog they no longer wanted. I already had a ten year old pointer Julia but when I heard about Amelia, I had to adopt her. She had almost four wonderful years with us. I miss her terribly but am glad that she could be part of our family for her final years.
Rest in peace Amelia, you will always be loved. |

Bmd, may I?
thought you'd like this pointerfan...Bmdluver posted this in another thread. soo sorry for your loss, godspeed Amelia The Last Battle If it should be that I grow frail and weak And pain should keep me from my sleep, Then will you do what must be done, For this -- the last battle -- can't be won. You will be sad I understand, But don't let grief then stay your hand, For on this day, more than the rest, Your love and friendship must stand the test. We have had so many happy years, You wouldn't want me to suffer so. When the time comes, please, let me go. Take me to where to my needs they'll tend, Only, stay with me till the end And hold me firm and speak to me Until my eyes no longer see. I know in time you will agree It is a kindness you do to me. Although my tail its last has waved, From pain and suffering I have been saved. Don't grieve that it must be you Who has to decide this thing to do; We've been so close -- we two -- these years, Don't let your heart hold any tears. -- Unknown

Sorry pointerfan. Its a very sad thing and leaves an emptyness in your heart. I know the feeling of thinking you heard them in the house and almost call their names and then you rememeber they are gone. I probably just made it worse but that is what I rememebr about losing my dogs. You gave that dog a home for 4 years that many people wouldn't do being a senior. You should be proud of yourself for the care and love you gave her. Im sorry for your loss and truly believe you saved her life.
