cat pees outside litter...

my cat pees outside litter, mostly on the linoleum floor. Should i rule out (flutd-unrinary tract disease) or should i try behavioural modifcations like more litter boxes or something like "cat-scram"? He does have hyperthyroidism...would that have anything at all to do with his peeing?

Is this a neutered male? Physical problems should always be ruled out first. He may very well have a urinary tract infection or bladder problem is is peeing on the lino in hopes it won't hurt if he does it there.

I don't know what "cat scram" is, but if it's anything that will scare or startle a cat, or make it unpleasant for him in any way, don't use it. Anyway nothing will work if his problem is physical, except to make it worse.

Cats always have a reason for avoiding the litterbox. We just have to find out what it is.

If he is fine physically, come back and we will have some suggestions for you!
