Sick Cat ??

I have 4 year old male cat who's stomach seems to be harder than normal and when he is standing I can feel a soft almost fluid-like-sac under his stomach near his back left leg. He was never a big eater and lately he seems to be eating more soft food than normal. He has long fur and occasionally brings up large fur-balls (this has been normal for him since he was a kitten). He also seems to be looking for more attention. Could you tell me if this is normal or if he should be checked out by a vet and what could be the possible problem with his stomach.

I am no vet,but if you feel uncertain and know something is not right with your cat, take him to the vet.He could have some sort of blockage, maybe even from fur-balls,or he might have ingested something he should not have.
Maybe even UTI and treatment quickly is of outmost importance,so please bring him to the vet, always better safe than sorry,he's only 4 not much more than a baby.
Please, let us know how it goes...

?? Sick Cat

Yeah ! A vet was my first thought however, Our vet is an hour away which is not a problem but they are only open Monday-Friday....so I was just hoping someone could possibly give me some advice until then....Smokey is not acting sick it's just that something just don't seem quite right with him. Thanks for you info...I was actually thinking along the same lines as you suggested.

Unhappy Bad Heart

Well, I thought I would just let you know how my cat made out at the vet. The news was not good, apparently he was in heart failure and there was nothing that could be done for him, it was only a matter of days. He had a very abnormal heart beat, decreased body temperture and the xray's showed a large amount of fluid build-up in the abdomen and all around the heart. It broke my heart to lose him he was a beautiful cat and well behaved. We had no way of knowing that he had a bad heart but thinking back he was never quite as hyper as our female cat and tended to enjoy resting a little more than she did....our hearts are broken at the lost he was a part of our family.

It's so sad! The only cat I ever had died at 8 months of heart failure. This kitty was a hunter and was so active-- we actually paid for an autopsy to find out what it was. Genetics....

I'm so sorry for your loss. Please take comfort that you saved him needless suffering by acting quickly and responsibly. He had a short, but good life with you. I'd love to see a picture.

This is Smokey

Here is a photo of my cat Smokey.....we miss him soo much !!! He loved to play with rolled up socks. He'd always jump up on my dresser and wait for me to open the sock drawer or sit next to the laundry basket and wait for me to roll-up a pair for him. He was a beautiful friend.
