Exclamation Beagle Rescue in GTA?

Hi! I hope that I am following the proper etiquette when it comes to this particular section of this forum. I just received a disturbing e-mail from a friend who received it from someone else etc. The originator of the e-mail is looking for homes for three female beagles ranging in age from 6 and 8 months. According to the e-mail: "At this point in time they are living at a veterinarians but come Friday they will be put to sleep if no home is found for them".

This has me greatly upset, having rescued a Bluetick myself this past fall, is there a beagle rescue that I can contact to let them know about this? I don't want these beagles to die because they are unwanted. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much

Beagles are dumped at an alarming rate, but I cannot imagine a vet killing 3 puppies just because they have no home.

Here is a list of all rescues/shelters in ON. Maybe one of them can help!

If there is no rescue able to take them,I am sure the THS would, they are puppies after all and could probably be easily adopted out..

Marna Gale runs Beagle rescue -

Marna also works at THS - you can try her there too 416-392-2273 ext. 2121

She's a nice lady. Delirium on this board also is a beagle fan, she has two rescued beagles and is awesome and will try and help if she can.

Dumped? Really, why is that?

I guess I assumed most of the ones that ended up at shelters were hunting dogs that didn't make it back in time to be put back on the truck. Either that or pets that just took off following their noses.

I've always had the impression that if you had a decent beagle and let 4 paws hit the ground off-leash in any kind of interesting place scent-wise, that there was a very good chance you weren't going to see that dog for a while.

I once read the advice from a hunter with beagles to someone with a pet beagle that didn't come when called, It went something like this.

"Beagles don't come, best way to get a hold of your beagle is to wait 'til the end of the day when it's exhausted then just pick it up."
Humans have televisions. Pointers have birdfeeders.

Rescue transports

Mesaana has posted before that she found something called Truck N Paws on Yahoo, that will transport rescue dogs. I have not had a chance to check it out yet, but might be worth a look, someone ??? If it looks half way reputable/viable maybe it could be made a sticky ???
