Debunking myths?
Does anyone remember the name of the website where you can go to find out if a particular topic is real or just a scam/myth? Eg. I got an e-mail about a horrendous practice being done on cats, but before I sign their petition to have it stopped, I want to make sure it isn't a fraud. Thanks!

To check, go to google and type in the first 10 words of the text and search. Info should come up whether it's real or not. Or, post the info here and I'll look it up.

SNOPES! That's it! I knew it was one funny little word! Thanks, folks! Knew I could count on you.
![]() PS. as per Snopes, it was a myth (as I originally thought, which is why I wanted to check it out first). |

Petiton to protect cats
Schwinn. Good to see you back.
If the practice is stuffing cats into glass containers - myth If the practice is using dismembered cats as art - truth - sign the petition. . |

Yes, it was the "bonsai kittens". I got an e-mail asking me to sign the petition, and I thought, "There's no freaking way this is true!!". So I looked it up on snopes and then e-mailed the person who sent it to me telling her not to fall for it. Honestly, I know it all started as a joke (and a bad one, at that), but why give people stupid ideas? I bet there were more than a few wackos out there who probably wanted to try it!

I use hoaxbusters too. If you do a search under " internet hoax", you'll find a bunch of sites.

Another site I use from time to time when I get those types of e-mails is breakthechain.org. They keep a data base of bogus e-mails. I always check that site when I receive a chain e-mail.
