Exclamation shih tzu scared of & wont drink from water bottle

My two year old male shih tzu has become fearful of his water bottle. He drinks from a hanging bottle, like ones used with rabbits, to keep his face dry. For the past two months he has been barking at the bottle and wont drink from it until I go over and tap the bottle. It is just getting worse. Even tapping on it won't work every time now. It did fall once and perhaps the noise scared him. I can't figure out what else it would be. Is my dog neurotic? PLEASE Help. I fear he'll get dehydrated.

Water Bottle Phobia

I can guess that he probably afraid of the water bottle now since it fell that time. My cat is afraid of Vacum cleaners, even when they are not turned on. Because of the loud noise it makes, and I guess she's afraid that it can start up at anytime. Try getting a new water bottle, or what's wrong with a dish? and sitting by him to make him feel safe. Hope this helps.
