Smile Could you keep your eyes open for....

Hi guys,
BF and I have been activly looking for a new brother/sister for Sheriff. We have had a few rough starts, with some not-so reputable rescues , and being an hour or two late  (We were going to adopt an AMbull in TAS, but when we called back to confirm, the sucky-owner had come to pick him back up Long story.... but basically used TAS as a "free motel" while he went on vacation).
So I thought I would put it out to all of you, my pets.ca friends.
BF and I have a 10mnth old Eng Bully (male neutered, non-dominant), no kids (not planning on any either LOL), live in a med. size townhouse with 2 floors, are shift workers (1 of us is usually home, overlap shifts about 2X/mnth, and we hire a dog sitter on those days). Our backyard is not currently fenced (just moved there this summer, and are on a wait list at the condo to get one in the spring). Our "personal" backyard is only 15X30 (I think)..... but there is a huge fenced area that is "common".
Our neighbours all have small dogs (ie Shih-tzu, Am Eskie). We would prefer a small to medium sized dog.... not a pup preferance (but what the heck... if one chooses us!!).
The dogs we've looked at so far (and yes I know all different, but ask Mastifflover.... researched out the wazoo.... I tend to be a little anal when it comes to research )
Boxer (smaller sized), Boston Terrier, Frenchie, Eng Bully. We are currently on the Boxerontariorescue list, as well as in constant close contact with Bulldog rescue Ontario.
We are more then willing to adopt one with special needs (Blind/ deaf), or one that is a little older.
I know all these breeds tend to be a little harder to find.... but if anyof you see something could you let me know.
PS-- we are not exclusive to the breeds above, just the ones we have researched a lot..... and def. not opposed to a mixed either
Thanks you guys. Appreciate the help.
We are not in a hurry.... as we want to make sure we're the best fit for him/her, and vice versa!!
We have considered fostering, but BF is unable to do it.... says his heart would be ripped out  everytime we had to "give one back". Also condo rules, only 2 pets per house (literally says "2 of any combo- Cats, Dogs, Fish. FISH??? I can only have a dog and a fish??? Or 2 fish??? Oh well... thems the rules )

WoW!!! Some beautiful cats on that site  Quebec might be a bad place for unwanted cats/dogs but they sure have a lot of wonderful rescues

Boxers/sheriffsmom

Hi sheriffsmom. Dont get too discouraged I know of atleast 7 boxers coming in between now and new yrs and we had 2 brought in just in the last week or so. Im fostering one After Christmas The adoption Committee will go back to pairing dogs again. We have a policy that we do not adopt out between the 22nd to around the New Year. I am sure you will hear from boxer rescue as soon as we get one in that would fit with your house/family/dog.

Boxer-- Not discouraged at all!! I know when the time is right with the right dog everything will work out!! I am just trying to help "fate" along a bit. I was quite discouraged right after all the stuff with Jack (Mntrl Boxer.... long story)... but just relized when the dog that needs us is available..... we'll still be available too!!
Looking forward to hearing from Boxer rescue!! I am soooo disapointed that Holly is gone.... But I'm sure she went to a fantastic home!!
Meb- He's gorgeous, so are the other two as well!! Wow, looks like the beautiful Montreal should be shipping some of those beauties this way
Talk to you later!

Tis The Season to Dump Dogs :(

Well i just looked at our incoming list of dogs and we are now up to 10. After i made my post i looked at the list and it grew from 7 to 10 And some are the stupidest reasons. I thought they dumped dogs after christmas. I wish some people realized that dogs are lifetime commiments. I will post a pic of the new girl we are fostering. She is a such a doll and if properly introduced to a dog could very well live with one. But they said shes attacked another dog but she is living here with my dogs and my other foster boxer

Sorry about Holly But i am sure we(boxer rescue) will find that right dog for you soon.

Hi Sheriffmom I don't recall us having a boxer named Jack...I don't think there's another boxer rescue here in Mtl, is there? Just curious!

p.s. I think there is something going on this year with people dumping their dogs before the holidays instead of after! It's sickening...

Hey Boxer Mntrl- It wasn't through Boxer Rescue.... it ended up being a well not to get into it here, it still breaks my heart. The link for the original thread is http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread....ght=Jack+boxer . I know Boxer rescue is on the up and up, and have nothing but positive things to say about them and our dealings with them .
From what i have been able to piece together, someone was misrepresenting themselves as a member of Boxer rescue. Anyway, it still hurts to think about what happend to this poor little boy. My prayer is that he is with a Fantastic forever home. If you ever hear anything about him Please let me know, I'd love to know that he is doing well. There is a Pic of Jack the Boxer on the thread above. He is such a sweet baby.

hi boxerrescue Montreal

Hi crystal My name is elizabeth. We i believe have about 45volunteers. We just got a new foster home approved a couple of weeks ago.

Not sure if you know who linda is. But she is our person you call about to surrender your dog or the shelters call her. She just posted this morning after someone jokeingly said only need 2 more and we have the 12 boxers of christmas. And Linda then posted sorry we are now at 11,12 and 13 to come in. I guess she got 3 calls since i posted last nite and then this morning

It makes me furious. Especially my new foster. She is such a great dog. They said she was aggressive with other dogs I have my own boxer and another foster boxer and we slowly introduced her to our male boxer and they were fine. I think if properly introduced to a dog she could live with one. I think the big thing was the husband wanted the dog gone now and the wife didnt

I plan to post pics of lady once i get my camera in 3 days(fiancee bought it for me for christmas lol)

I emailed the rescue about him (I believe his name is either Jersey or Astro), he is deaf, which is not a problem, but they said they do not rescue outside of their state! Oh well. We thought he was a little punkin' too!!
Thanks for the link. He is also featured at www.deafdogs.org

Sheriffmom

I saw Astro on "deaf dogs" but didn't send you the link because he is in Cedar Rapids Iowa.. very far. The nose markings are different. This dog is named "Oliver". He is also partially deaf , but can hear loud noises & will come when called. Oliver is in Maine/New Hampshire/Vermont.

Sorry... that may still be too far. He is a cutie though

Thanks for the info Bugsey!! He looked exactly like Jersey (I went back to look at Astro... your right!!) even wearing a similar Tshirt! How funny!!
I will email them about Oliver! Thanks for the correction.... brain is mush right now... after the holidays. busy busy busy!!!
BoxerMNTL- could you send me a link for Joey?
Also, can he fly (not him, but put on a plane?)? I would be willing to fly down/ up somewhere to escort a new baby home!! As long as it would not put the poor babe in a bad situation, or harm them in anyway.... I've never really looked into flying a furbabe.... how do they do? Is it breed dependant? Are there any airlines who allow furbabes in the passenger area?
Hmmmm must do some research!!

montreal niagara

If a dog is in this area, we have friends who may be delivering a horse up this way. A dog could tag along back with them as they live in Fenwick. Maybe this will work out?

http://www.montrealboxerrescue.com and click on "boxers" or http://www.boxerrescuecanada.org and click on "available boxers". you'll see joey there!

i'm not sure how it would work though, if you can't come down with your pooch to meet him first, and we cannot go to you for a home visit-unless boxer rescue ontario can help us out with that.......anyhoo we can cross that bridge when we come to it if you are interested!

sheriffmom, I go on the mtlboxerrescue site at least once a week, and I've fallen in love with all their boxers, but I have a soft spot for joey...it'd be so great if he was adopted out to a good home like yours!
Good luck
