Wonderful lady needs help!!

In St.Lazare, there is a lady named Mary Koury. She cares for, feeds, vets and maintains two sheds filled with feral cats.

Twice a day - before and after work - Mary visits these sheds in all weather to make sure the cats have food and water.

She has never asked anyone for any help, and pays for everything out of her own pocket. She has trapped, spayed and neutered every one of these cats and re-traps and has them treated for any illness or injury.

She also has 15 cats in her home - all abandoned - many of whom are unadoptable. One is paralyzed, some are feral, and others have medical problems that require expensive medication, yet Mary never ever complains.

Mary has the biggest heart I've ever seen, and never refuses to help an animal in trouble. She gets no recognition, support or thanks. Helping the animals is all the reward she needs, but everyone needs help sometimes.

Debbie Raymond feels it would be a wonderful thing to give Mary a little Christmas gift in the way of support. Food or monetary donations would help make her life a little easier. I could never do what she does, but we are so grateful to her for doing it. So many cats who would have died horrible deaths are alive and happy because of her incredible generosity and unending compassion.

If you can help in any way, please either contact Lucky Rescue or send a donation to:
Lucky Rescue
c/o 295 Calypso Rd.
St-Lazare, QC
J7T 3E8

You can add the notation "For Mary's cats" on the cheque, so we will know. No amount is too small to be gratefully recieved by Mary, although she would kill us if she knew we were asking!!

Any items or food can also be dropped off at Ani-Gourmet at 3100 Harwood in Vaudreuil - in the shopping center right of Exit 26 off the T-Can.

Results will be published in our local paper!

P.S. if anyone has any small insulated doghouses they no longer need, they would be much appreciated as additional shelter for these cats over the winter.

No Pet Valu outlets are here, unless they are under another name. Is that like Petsmart?

Debbie strong-armed a bunch of businesses here today for donations, and tomorrow we're going to hit some more.

I guess even people who don't like cats don't have the nerve to say they refuse to help poor homeless animals at Christmas!

I'm thrilled to say so many businesses and individuals (Thank you Mastifflover!!) have responded to the plea for help that Mary will be getting a wonderful Christmas present.

She will presented with everything on Friday, and a local reporter will be on hand to take pics and write a story, which hopefully may get Mary even more help.

A special "Thanks" to Dr.Lise Morel of the St-Lazare vet clinic, who is donating 5 free spay/neuter certificates.

And of course, another big thanks to Debbie Raymond who conceived and engineered this whole thing!!
