Dog jumping Please help I don't want o loose her
I have 3 boxers and one seems to like to jump the fence. I have a 4 foot fence around my backyard. All 3 of the dogs go outside about 3 to 4 times a day for about 1/2 hour each time. Tellie who is spayed and about 1 1/2 will jump the fence if she see's another dog or person walking a dog on the street. I have put up one of those Innok electric fences and she stays within the boundaries unless she see's another dog. When the people next door who have 2 dogs let there dogs out. Tellie will run right up to the fence shocking her self not caring about it. If someone is walking a dog or a dog is running loose Ellie runs right up to the fence and jumps right over chases the dog awhile. Then she returns to running up and down the outside of my gate till I realize she has gotten out and I bring her in. I'm at my wits end. I have tried putting up wood to make the gate higher in the place she seemed to like to jump but then she just found another spot to jump. Any suggestions. I can't have her keep jumping she could get hurt or hurt someone. She is not mean but will jump up on people sometimes when she is real excited and I would hate for her to scratch someone. Any suggestions on getting her to stop jumping.

Is there no way you could get a taller fence when i got tazz from the rescue centre he is part doberman so he can jump really high we ended up with a 6 foot fence.
Dont know what else to suggest. |

There is no alternative then to raise the height of your fence.

There is an alternative
You could - instead of raising the height to 6 feet - angle it back inside the yard at the top. This keeps the dog from jumping over because they hit their head on the fencing at the top. Usually angling it back 1 foot inside the yard is sufficient to keep most dogs in. Even climbing beagles.

2 ways to keep dogs in side fence
The fence can be angled back inside the yard at a 90 degree or a 45 degree.
The key is to keep the dog from getting his rear legs on the vertical fence section and boost himself over FGor smaller dogs the 90 turn at the top works well. For larger ones the 45 angled back 18 inches will keep anything in.

Just a suggestion for in the mean term. I too have only a 4 foot fence at the moment as I just bought the place. Hwoever I have a piece of rope tied to a tree so that my dog can reach all parts of the yard but CAN NOT jump the fence. Just a temp solution as you figure something out.

I hope your careful, Rottimom, because your dogs can strangle or choke theirselfs if they run around the tree too many times and the rope gets wound up.
As for jumping the fence? You've got some great ideas woodbyter.

Thanks For The Advice
I have decided to just let Tellie out for 10 mins 3 times a day and watch her the whole time then she comes in and has not jumped in the last few days. I hope this works she seems to miss the dogs next door and barks at the door to be let out when they are out. I wait untill they go insode then let her out. I will be moving in 8 months and will make sure my new homes has at least a 6 foot fence. .
