shelters/rescues

so inquired about about a dog with a rescue filled out the app twice...nothing......saw another on the toronto spca site...they never answer the phone....left a message and an e-mail....nothing......do they really want to find homes for these pets. i think this is why people go to the byb....i know people need to be screened....but how can they screen if they don't get back to you

Lettin the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin it back in.

Most of the stuff people worry about ain't gonna happen anyway.

Every shelter/rescue I know is severely understaffed. I know it can be frustrating, but keeping the animals clean, fed and healthy is the #1 priority, and sometimes responding to phone calls and emails has to take a back seat.

Who have you got your eye on Wayne ? Did you fill out an application ? Toronto had an adoption blitz this weekend ~ you should have just driven into The Big Smoke kiddo.

Good thing I know you Wdawson because my answer would have been extremely rude ! In rescues , everyone volunteer their time. You send in an application this morning !!!! It's Sunday , even we , rescue people , can take a day off. Maybe this person has family over today , maybe she's not even home ! And the way it works with applications , the foster mom probably is not the one who do gets them in her e-mails. There is probably someone in charge, who will read it , look into your references , and then send it to the foster mom. Come on ! It's Sunday !!! I know with some rescues , it can take up to a week before you get an answer. Yes we do want these dogs adopted out , but it's not like we are in a rush to get red of them ! Patience Wdawson , patience !

Whoa Frenchy !(* note to self : do NOT get on the wrong side of Frenchy!!!)

This is Toronto Humane Society we're talking about and they are actually opened all weekend (10-5 ish hours) normally. This weekend they are having a blitz (extra hours, no charge adoptions) so the pedestrian traffic is probably very high and staff to answer telephones likely very low.

BTW Wayne, I've been trying to call them periodically over the weekend myself about delivery of a donation and get no answer either. Anything you want me to ask on your behalf when I do get through ?

If she is truely who you want to share your life with than it is worth the wait and little extra effort to get. She is a beautiful doggie and would love it if you went down and talked to the staff directly so she can be in her forever home soonest.

Frenchy is right, these places are very busy and are understaffed.

I was replying to this , not about the spca. And M3X , I'm not mad but people seem to forget we are only volunteers . We do have lives , and work full time , sometimes we just can't reply asap.

doesn't matter Frenchy. I'm STILL not getting on the back side of you girl (anymore than I would advise there will be a happy outcome to anyone who gets on the back side of me...) ~ and that's a GOOD thing.

Wayne ~ I am probably going to be walking down to THS either in the morning or early afternoon ~ is there anything I can help with ?

mx3 and i seemed to not cross paths today...too bad...i did go and see tara...she seems like a sweet dog.but she is not right for us:frown: ....she seems to have a few problems that will be hard for us to deal with, she is better suited to a home where she is going to get all the attention and not have to deal with other pets.they told me she is a white level dog....aggression issues, food possessive, not house trained and does not walk well on leash....too bad she seemed sweet......gonna go back on saturday and look at them all....i know i'll find a perfect match.

thanks mx3.....we will be there on saturday morning to look at others.
